Leitah, a 23 year old Mother is part of the first majority female focused anti-poaching unit, The Black Mambas. Dedicated to protecting rhinos through boots on the ground as they patrol unarmed through the Balule Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa. Working night and day to prevent poachers from breaking in, they fearlessly take on the responsibility of acting as the ears and eyes of the reserve. Fighting against expectations and controversy that women should not partake in this field, The Black Mambas have dropped snaring by 76% within the reserve and continue to fight against the war on poaching as well as lead the way for women in their community and the world.
